If you're still missing the make-up, THIS FRIDAY (Oct. 4) is the deadline.
2. Assigned on Friday, with some work time: "The Wanderer" (108-111) plus hand-out study questions. Due on Tuesday.
3. Monday in class: Peer Response to the personal essay. Papers not read/responded to on that day (whether due to excused absence of just not having a paper) must be exchanged on your own. Use the Peer Response Sheet available in class; trade with someone who needs to DO one.
4. Tuesday in class:
- We saw a video clip on William the Conqueror's arrival, and the "Anglo-Saxon Horrible History" version of the invasions: Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Vikings, and William.
- We talked about the essay process step just completed, including a segment on the importance of following formatting instructions.
- "The Wanderer" homework: collected and quickly checked in 3rd; stamped but not yet collected in 4th; collected in 6th. Not discussed yet in any of the sections.
- New material: pp. 102-103 in the textbook. Chief topic: The Exeter Book. Students read the pages, discussed a "top 3" set in pairs/threes, and we discussed some key facts and implications together. KNOW about this work.
5. Wednesday: Discussion of "The Wanderer" (not quite completed)
4th period papers still not actually collected because we didn't quite finish. 6th's were returned. (3rd had theirs from Tuesday)
HOMEWORK for TOMORROW (Thursday)
None from textbook.
Students should be working on revising their personal essays; you'll receive a revision hand-out (deadlines, tips, and scoring guidelines) in class on Thursday.
ALSO--reminder from the Career and Counseling Center--
Culminating Project paperwork (resume and typed Question 1 response) are due on Oct. 14!!
