TODAY IN CLASS
Quiz--Acts II and III
Some return of papers, and renewed emphasis on the lost art of the proper heading for all non-MLA papers (regular homework, informal writing, hand-written, typed, whatever). We went over the basic reasons--they are not reiterated here. But the model is this, on the LEFT, and if you're typing, SINGLE-SPACED.

Assignment
You must do this correctly or it will be returned. You can fix it and re-submit the next day, but it will be late. This is a "do it right the first time out of habit and (yes) because it's a required form" proposition.
FOR TOMORROW
Make sure you've read the heading instructions above. The "Assignment" line for this homework is Act 4 Scenes 5-7 Questions
But, you say, I didn't hand out the questions? Right. Here's what you need to do.
1) Find three (3) examples of chunks of text (a "chunk" can be 1-4 lines long) that you simply can't decipher the meaning of. I mean, you can't figure out even the gist of what it's saying, let alone why/how it's important. For these three, COPY THE LINES DOWN EXACTLY and include the act, scene, line numbers like this: (4.5.67-70) for each of the three examples.
(And "examples" can't be consecutive lines. Pull your examples from different places, though you don't have to have one from 5, one from 6, and one from 7)
2) Find two (2) places where you think you understand the words, but you still don't "get it." This would be like not understanding intention (what exactly being planned?), motivation (why/how is this useful or significant?) or any other aspect of actions or dialogue. For these places, indicate scene and a clear explanation of "where" you are; direct quotes aren't needed, but make it clear to the reader what you're asking. Either page numbers (for something that covers several bits of dialogue) or line numbers (something shorter) are okay here.
