The topics to "prepare": the quotation marks indicate that this task is NOT all about writing a paper in advance and then copying it over. You won't have room.
You have the opportunity to take notes. All you can use is both sides of the bottom portion of the hand-out I gave you today. You can divide as you wish.
- You'll have two paragraph questions to choose from (out of the 3 on the paper), and you must write about one. No quotes required, but the more concrete your support is, the better.
- For the multi-paragraph question, you'll again have some choice. NOT all three, though. So you really must decide on 3 (required) or 4-5 (no problem with extras) best quotations that would be relevant to your thesis. WHICH MEANS . . . that you need to move from the generic "discuss" to a thesis (a topic plus a CLAIM about that topic, with some indication of a "road map"). In this class, the road map/blueprint/game plan--the part that your last year's teacher might have called "methodology" can be in a second sentence.
What I put on the boardtoday re: the slightly-less-than-half-sheet of paper:
NAME must be clearly written. You can use ink or pencil for the notes.
Hand-written, not typed or copied/pasted. I want you to have time to think about what you're doing.
I'll collect these at the beginning of the test, and return when you're ready to start this section.
So nothing else is allowed, or would possibly do you any good . . . .
Be ready to go tomorrow with your OWN paper for the written sections, as well as a PEN. (The objective section can be in pen or pencil. I think a somewhat dull pencil heavily marked works the best on but your mileage may vary.)
