TODAY IN CLASS
1) Some insights into the role of the Friar in the medieval church--what was/was not allowed. This information is useful for establishing the baseline you need to understand where the Friar stands in Chaucer's opinion. Then groups had the chance to apply the baseline knowledge to their understanding.
2) Although two additional pilgrims were supposed to have been prepared for today, there was only time for groups to compare/contrast findings for one. So those who weren't quite prepared got an extra day--BUT
FOR TOMORROW
You need to have finished all three of the pilgrims assigned to your particular group (besides the Friar, which everyone worked on). This means that if you did only one for Wednesday, you need to prepare the other two for Thursday. If you were ready to go with both today, you just have one for tomorrow.
Look at yesterday's post for the complete list of assigned pilgrims for each group.
*If you run out of template space, just write the same information on paper of your own.
A hand-out re: upcoming work was also distributed today--
Soonest essential highlight: a quiz on Friday over the medieval intro (28-33) and the intro to Chaucer/Canterbury Tales (142-143).
