TODAY IN CLASS
The blade of the giant's sword--what does its "melting" tell us?
The surfacing--Beowulf's choice to bring the hilt of the giant's sword and Grendel's head
The procession--nailing down the "actual factuals" of the text and sampling some of the artistic renditions
The entrance into Herot--what can Beowulf do by himself that it took FOUR of his men to accomplish?

Then we didn't get as far in some classes as in others. If we did not look closely at Beowulf's words to Hrothgar (early 24) and the first part of Hrothgar's response (rest of 24), then DO SO on your own, please. "It's not complicated."  But none of us looked much into 25; we will pick up there.

You should already have read through Ch. 27 over the week-end.

FOR TOMORROW
Read through Ch. 31.

For Wednesday: Ch. 32-38
For Thursday: Ch. 39-43
